Property building in Ranjit's Svaasa Amritsar
Ranjit's Svaasa is a delightful oasis of calm tucked away from a busy road in the more modern area of Amritsar. The main building takes you back in time to an era of privilege, but the bedroom was spacious and stylishly decorated with all 'mod cons'. The character of the hotel was complimented by charming gardens which wove around the Marigold Hotel-esque courtyards and made you feel cut off from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. The staff were excellent, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. On arrival, you immediately felt welcomed as if into a family home. The separate dining room served the best breakfasts and evening meals to order were very good. A lot of the fresh ingredients are grown in the hotel allotment. The chef took time out of his busy day to give us a cookery lesson, instructing us (through the translation of the lovely hotel manageress) how to cook a selection of local traditional dishes which we then ate for dinner. The manageress also booked us a wonderful guide (Sonny) and driver to show us the sights of Amritsar and the Wagah Border Ceremony (not to be missed for entertainment value!) The hotel is a 10 minute tuk tuk ride from the old town and the spectacular Golden Temple, worth seeing both by day and night. Make sure not to miss the amazing 24/7 Community Kitchen too.

We adored our two nights at Ranjit’s Svaasa. It is a beautiful old home tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Amritsar. Our room was extremely spacious, clean and atmospheric. The bed was so comfy and the toiletries for our hair/body were luxurious. The breakfast was delicious and they packed us a yummy breakfast to go when we left early for the train. The staff here are wonderful and kind. The lovely two fellows on the gate made us feel like we were returning home with their friendliness. The ladies in the office were darlings and helped us with anything we needed. The hotel organised a driver, Hans, out to the Wagah Border ceremony ( not to be missed)! He was a fabulous driver and we enjoyed chatting to him. Do not miss Amritsar. I have travelled all around India and found this to be one of the friendliest cities. The Golden Temple is equal to visiting the Taj Mahal…an oasis of calm and beauty. Lastly don’t forget to buy some Amritsar juttis (slippers)! At $6 Australian they were a bargain and a fun reminder of an amazing destination. Thank you Ranjit’s we’ll be back.

Such a wonderful gem. This place is tranquility itself, with wonderful people and delicious food that follows a farm to fork philosophy. We did not use the spa facilities that are also available, though can see how well that would fit into the overall ambience. The building is filled with history and beautifully decorated. The rooms are very spacious and incredibly comfortable. As you wander from your room to the breakfast area, or library, or sitting room you pass tranquil gardens and many a nook and cranny to tuck yourself away into. The team here are happy to help organise anything you might wish to do. I can not recommend it enough.

I had two meals at the hotel and it was absolutely incredible food and friendly, helpful service :) The decor of the hotel is beautiful especially in and around the reception, hallway and dining areas. I have to especially thank the front desk reception staff who helped me check out late at night before a very early flight, assisted with a wake-up call and helped even more when I accidentally dropped my passport on the ground at the airport when leaving (!) - the driver very kindly called the front desk to go back and check in my room in case it was there! Profuse thanks to the whole team for your kindness.

The hotel is beautiful with old-world charm and lots of attention to details. The bed was huge and comfortable. Staff is nice and attentive, also helping us with transport to the border ceremony after a taxi canceled on us. A huge thanks to their driver, Hans, who answered our endless questions about daily life in the area. We had to stay quite a while after checkout and it wasn't a problem to sit in the various public àreas and order lunch.
